I've said goodbye to my baby girl. I adopted her from Heartland Humane Society at the beginning of my sophomore year in college. She was about 9 months to a year old at the time. She loved playing in my hair, and rubbing her chin on my shoulder. As she grew up, she stopped playing in my hair but decided that sleeping under the covers next to me would be her nightly routine. We had all kinds of adventures, from finding out that she liked lemon cupcakes and frozen corn, to her going swimming at the park. She loved sitting on the window sill and watching the outside world. She spent 8 years of her too-short life with me, and I miss her lots already.

One of the cruelest diseases, FIP, took her life. Despite being 9 years old, she somehow ended up with the mutated form of the corona virus which is nearly always incurable. I did everything I could to keep her comfortable, including having a feeding tube inserted so she would stay fed for the final weeks of her life. When I came home in the wee hours of Monday, I found that breathing was too hard for her, and standing was impossible. My boyfriend came over and we drove her to the vet hospital where she left this world for good. The one thing I wish I had done more of is to take pictures. No matter how many I have, they never seem to be enough. Please, take lots of pictures of your babies--you never know how much you'll cherish them when the babies are gone.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Willow is in good company with my little Buddy Boy, Jake and many other TCS kitties over the rainbow bridge.

I'm so terribly sorry. Willow was such a beautiful, beautiful girl. She's now a beautiful angel in heaven just waiting to be reunited with you again someday.

Thank you all. She was a wonderful cat, and I miss her. Even Odo misses her, though they frequently ignored each other when she was alive. I know she is now without pain and surrounded by love.
