My friend had her kitty, Hobbes, cremated. It gave her a sense of peace. She had a memorial placed in a cemetery and keeps his ashes by her mirror so she can visit with him in the mornings as she gets ready. Her other cat Hide has taken up Hobbes' old morning ritual, he climbs up to the sink where she stands, puts his paws on her chest and rubs his face all over hers. It's really amazing. It's really made her feel comforted.

You are doing a great thing for him, I know it will be hard but having you near will make him so happy.

Also, if you ask your vet you may be able to have the vet come out to your car when the time comes (so you don't have to take him inside the clinic)...or even sit on the lawn with him while the vet attends to him.

Your mother put that very well.

Having been in the same position a couple of times, I know how difficult it is, and my heart goes out to you. I know it sounds trite, but a peaceful, pain-free death in your arms is the last gift you can give Zorro.

I went to the vets, but it was so busy that he didn't have time to talk to me. I'll have to ask him to call me back in the next few days so I can talk about it.

I am so sorry Zorro is not well.

It is a hard decision to make, but ultimately it is usually the kindest thing we can do for our furkids at the end. Unfortunately I've had to make that decision twice in last few years
Sending lots of good vibes to Zorro and strength vibes your way.

I am sitting here at work blubbering like a moron. . .

I am so so so so so so so sorry for this to even have to be a decision. I had to make it a few short years ago, and till this day, it hurts. But as everyone on here has said you will know when it is time to let him free. My girl Cleo was my best friend, and I got to hold her when they put her to sleep. We too had her cremated, and she stays with my mom, in the last home she knew. I cry every time i think of her going limp in my arms, but I know she was happy she was there and not alone. She was at that point finally free to run and roam without being in pain. . .

May you have the strength to know when the time comes, and know that he loves you very much. We are always here to talk to. . .

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this but it's our responsibilities as their parents to do the best for them. Even when it means saying good-bye. It's a painful situation and tears at our hearts but that's because we love them so much. And they love us back.

I can see the love you have for your Zorro. And he loves you. Remember that love when you send him off and when you think of him.

I'm so very sorry that you have to go through this. Every pet owner must eventually face this difficult decision, but in the end, they always know when the time is right. Zorro will tell you when he is ready.
I'm tearing up reading through this thread because I know how difficult and unfair it seems. You feel frustrated because you have done everything you possibly could and yet, it can't fix it. It breaks your heart to see them hurt.

Zorro knows you love him and giving him a pain free life the kindest act you could bestow on him. For those we truly love, the selfless act is the hardest decision to make.
Please keep us posted about Zorro. Send a PM if you need someone.

I have no advice to give - you know it all already. Just a big hug and lots of sympathy - I have been there and I know how it is.

I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay strong... and do what is best for your baby. I have been there also, and I know it's not easy. Hang in there... you're not alone.

I can't tell you what is right. But I recently went through having to make this decission with my precious Jake. He's been gone 11 days now and counting. I held up hope right until the last minute when the vet came back with the test results. Then I knew I had to let go and give Jake back to God.

I'm new here and have been reading your posts. I dread the day I have to make that decision. When I brought Josh to the vet this past week and she even mentioned cancer and the possibility if having to choose between keeping him or euthanizing him... I couldn't fathom having to make that choice. I was beside myself and I hadn't even gotten the leukemia test result back yet.

I'm so sorry that you are in this place. Zorro is so young and it's not fair. My warmest wishes to you and we're all here for you.
