Is is common for cats to go a couple days between bowel movements? It seems like ever since Popsie went to the vet and had an enema he hasn't been pooing a much as he used to. He eats the same amount of food though. I'm somewhat concerned.

I believe once or twice a day is the norm! Anything less could be a problem, so I would ca the vet and ask for a natural cat-safe stool softener some other solution. Or maybe add some wet food to her diet, that always gets Layla moving

My five usually go about once every 24 hours, but sometimes it may be as long as every 48.

The cat just like a human should go twice or once a day ,.... if that is not happening a vet VISIT is in order and likely an xray

Basically the other posters are right, but how long has it been since his enema? If it was within the last day or two, he may just not have enough waste to eliminate yet.

It's been a week since the enema. I'm already giving him a stool softener because he was at the vet for hard poo. I've stared feeding him wet food too. The stool softener is working cuz when he does go it's plenty soft. Maybe it just seems like he's pooing less cuz now I'm watching for it where as I never really payed attention before.

Definitely keep an eye out for chronic constipation. My cat Buster had a couple of enemas over the years until it got worse and worse. Now he can't go poop at all unless I pump him with medication. If you're noticing a pattern of constipation, consult with your vet about this issue.

The doctor diagnosed him with megacolon back in March. I want to do the surgery at this point because nothing is working. However, I decided to book an appointment with the holistic veterinary clinic that charges $250.00 per hour (I know, I know, it's crazy expensive) but I'm desperate at this point. We're going tomorrow; I'll keep everyone updated!
