My MIL called me and ask if I might know why one of her cats is having blood in her stools. This cat is indoors ONLY! They got a stool sample and gave it to the vet and he said it maybe from her food or if she has been eating bugs

I guess he also saw no parasites in it. So what would cause this?? The cat has also been pooping in odd places, such as their couch/chair....but yet she also goes in the liter box.

Hi there

My kitten has had it all in the few months we have had him and blood in the stool was one of them. It sometimes depends on the age of the cat and sometimes differs in severity. The reason for my kitten was that a change in food had made his poos a bit too big and hard so a tear formed when he strained (sorry to be so graphic!!) he was fine within about 2 days and we have not had a problem since. If the problem persists go to the vet as blood in the stools can be a sign of a more serious problem.

Hope everything is ok

Anna

Yes, see I guess she has always been fed Science diet(a certain type of it) and they switched her to Science diet, something else...so that may be whats causing it!
