Hi, my name is Kazy.
I live in Seattle Puget sound area in Washington state.

I landed this forum in search of information regarding feral and spay/neuter.
I am currently caring for mother cat with her 3 kittens.
I started to see mother cat about 1.5 years ago in my back yard.
I didn't doubt she belonging to someone although she always run away from me.
She was once on top of my turkey while I left it marinating outside. (this incident makes everybody laugh.)
At the end of June, I started to seeing kittens in my back yard.
I soon realized kittens belong to the cat I have been seeing.

I started to feed them and was determined to keep them as my pet in my back yard.
To do that, fixing them was the first step.
They are all fixed and vaccinated yesterday.
I will keep them in my bedroom until their booster shot is done.
Then, I am planning to release them in my back yard.
One of the kittens, "Torako" is pretty tame. But rest of them are not.
I hope they will warm up to me in next 3 weeks.

I grew up in Japan with animal loving parents.
I had dog, cat, mouse, lizard, and fish.
My first cat was hit by car and died when I was in middle school.
Second one lived up to be 20 years old and died 5 years ago.
Although I have experience with cats, I am still learning a lot.
And that learning process is very fun.

I have been wanting to have a cat but I have given up since my husband is allergic to them.
Then, 4 cats showed up in my back yard!!!
God must have chosen me to be a guardian for them.

Thanks,
-Kazy

I already feel at home!

OK, I have question already.
Do any of you mix used cat litters and cat waste in to your composed bin?
I thought they are too good to be thrown out.

Cat littler is made of natural clay, and must make good composed!

I love working on my garden, too and I grow vegetables in the summer.
(Let me know I should post this question somewhere else.)

Hello

I live in the pacific northwest as well. Love your cats, and that's a wonderful story. About compost, yes, you could use clay - personally we prefer to use simple pelleted woot pieces, not sure what they are - Wood pellets - but then you can dump them straight onto the plants. Degrades easier, IMO, but stinks more if you don't scoop.
