Just a tad to convenient for me to believe yet.

If you think this has been in the national news alot, you should live here, it is all that has been on the local news every single day, every news hour, every channel, IN DEPTH. To me, one would have to be living in a cave NOT to have heard about it. Maybe I am just jaded to be so skeptical.
Some people, like myself, do not watch TV, or listen to the radio, I don't even get a newspaper.
In fact, this is the very first time I have heard about this case, as I don't even check into the IMO forum that often.

n some ways, I don't blame. Living/growing up in Metro Detroit you got to hear about 1-2 murder cases a night, a fire, a kidnapping, and whatever else you can think of. I really honestly stopped reading and listening to the news for a VERY long time because there was just too much sadness in the world and I would get depressed.

But could you imagine the shock, as a parent, to see a picture of your daughter in a story like this if you really didn't know it had happened?

Nearly the whole family here has been watching the news for the past hour or so.
Right. That's what police officer said during the press-conference. That the suspect is not the father of the child. I am wondering where/who the child's father is. The police officer said during the press-conference that the mother did not know that her child was on TV, up until someone told her that her daughter was on TV, and did not know the child was ever assaulted either. It appears right now the child is with her mother. The father was not mentioned.

I think it's possible the mother didn't know. I've been super busy at work the last couple of weeks and haven't really watched the news or read the paper. I didn't even know what was going on in Burma until a few days ago. Which is embarrassing. But sometimes life is all-consuming.

Lots of people don't even have a TV. My boss doesn't, and neither does my brother.

I have a lot of questions I would like to know the answers to. The authorities say the child was 3 when she was assaulted, and she is 7 now. Which would mean that tape had to have been made 4 years ago, in 2003. Yet it was reported that the tape was made in 2005 because the assault of the little girl was on the same tape as the peeping incident involving another girl. Foxnews.com reported that peeping incident happened in 2005, the peeping incident victim was 11 at the time, and now she is 13. So, when did the assault on the little girl happened and how old was she when it happened? How did the tape got to where it was found? The man is said to be unrelated to the girl, how was he able to get access to her, and without her mother even knowing of the assault?

I find it very odd that her father is not being mentioned at all that I have heard. I guess the truth will come out sooner or later. I really hope it wasn't her father.

The missing father though is the pedophiles' dream. They like to find single women with children to befriend. Then they get access to children that allows this to happen.

Well, if you believe the police, the suspect wasn't even someone that befriended the woman. He was described as some distant friend, not as mother's good friend or boyfriend.

Well then, that is even worse that someone that wasn't even a friend had prolonged access to a 3 year old.

I did hear that the rapist and his mother were visiting that house while the mother was gone. It is unclear whether the mother of the rapist was babysitting the little girl or not. It has been put out there that, PERHAPS, the rapes occurred while the rapist's mother was asleep or had "stepped out to the store"

Also, some dude that knows the rapist has stepped forward and said that he had talked to him by phone within the last week.
