" The nude ad starring actress Alicia Silverstone and promoting vegetarianism has been pulled in Houston, where it was supposed to debut."

What please we should at least get the chance to view the add, before they pull it. I am not a fan of peta but I should at least get the chance to make up my own mind about the add. I mean for once i support a peta add, and now i dont get the chance, How unfair is that.

I saw it on the net. It wasn't that bad.

You can find the video on YouTube by searching "PETA".

I just watched it and I don't see why it would be pulled. Are the people in Houston that prudish? I mean there isn't really any nudity really.

Yes, she doesn't have clothing on, you see her getting out of a pool but you don't see her boobs because of her arm placement. Then there is a distance shot of her walking up the stairs of the pool and she's still partically submerged in water and all you see is her back and a little bit of the top cleft of her buttocks, not her full butt. All the rest are close up head shots.

Why does she have to be naked? She is talking that being a vegetarian did amazing things for her body. Well, put on a swimsuit, and then you could show the whole body rather than her being naked in which case they can't even show the body.

There's a link to the ad in the article you posted, Bruce - don't tell me you didn't check it out on YouTube?

I can't believe that was pulled! That's really being far too prudish.

Cos if she weren't naked, nobody would care and we wouldn't even be having this discussion!

which is where i am 90% of the time when i post here

I could care less whether she is naked or in a swimsuit, PETA is the reason why I don't care.
Oh, butt crack. I've seen worse walking down the street.

That ad was over the top for all kinds of reasons, nudity the least of them. Why does a naked actress swimming to porno music convince people to stop eating meat? Really I don't get what just happened. It almost made me want to eat meat...

Just watched it. I agree with Julie, I've seen worse at work.

I'm still trying to figure out how that's supposed to make me not want to eat meat. I think it was pulled because it was a bad ad.

EDIT: I think they had a stand in butt for her. No one looks that good with out a major overhaul of doctors and digital replacement parts.

and

Seriously, I think I saw more butt crack when the movers were moving my stuff last week then in that video.

Hmm..at least Peta realizes that sex sells or promotes. Maybe if I go vegatarian I can swim naked in my pool...oh wait, I need a pool first.

The picture is really very artistic. You see nothing, because she is posed in a way where nothing but her naval shows. No reason to ban it, unless Texas is banning it on the basis of being a Vegan. Texas is very against people who talk against eating meat.

Why are you guys against PETA? I'm not going into an arguement or anything, just curious..

PETA does not believe that people should have companion animals. They destroy most of the animals surrendered to them instead of finding them homes.

They are also closely aligned with ELF with is a terrorist organization.

This site gives quite a bit of background info on PETA: http://petakillsanimals.com/

This one also mentions PETA's ties with ELF and ALF: http://www.activistcash.com/organiza...iew.cfm/oid/21
Quote:
In the past, PETA has handled the press for the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), a violent, underground group of fanatics who plant firebombs in restaurants, destroy butcher shops, and torch research labs. The FBI considers ALF among America's most active and prolific terrorist groups, but PETA compares it to the Underground Railroad and the French Resistance. More than 20 years after its inception, PETA continues to hire convicted ALF militants and funds their legal defense. In at least one case, court records show that Ingrid Newkirk herself was involved in an ALF arson.

PETA has even begun to adopt the tactics of an ALF offshoot known as SHAC (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty). This group is notorious for taking protests outside the boardroom and into the living room, attacking their targets at their homes.

God, how can a group who want to liberate animals, kill them?? How is that helping????

I can't see anything wrong with having pets as long as you love them and look after them. Especially the animals who are older and have a less of a chance getting homes they deserve to be in a home and not a shelter.

I don't get it. They are for ethical treatment....
That's it, though, Emma. They aren't really for ethical treatment or they wouldn't be killing animals! They're a bunch of hypocrites. But, that isn't the point of the thread.

I watched the video. I can't see that nudity was the reason it was pulled. Someone came to their senses & realized PETA is stupid, I think!
