So my Dh is statring a skatebaord buisness, we have our first customer and he is at aloss for a name for the board. What I need are the translations for some words. We like the idea of using other languages for the names of boards but since we do not speak any we usually look them up on line but what we need, every time we try to look up the translation we gt back multiple words and have no clue which is the right one. So here is the list of the words in english, please help me in translation, any and all languages accepted. Once we have the board I will post a final picture for you all to see.

path carver - as in someone who carves a path into the road
transport
movement
trip
cruiser
pumper - as in someone who uses thier legs to propel themselves
propel

Basicly we need a cool word that explains the movement someone would do while rideing a skateboard from one place to anouther. Not the popsicle style but the smooth carving longboard style. Think of the moves a snowboarder makes while going down a mountain only its on a sidewalk. We are also tossing around he ideas of animals as well.

Any ideas would be great. The board is going to be used on a colledge campous to go from one class to anouther.

Thanks for your time and help.

I only speak English, and a bit of medical Spanglish, so I won't be much help. What I use when I need a single word is go to Babelfish:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

you type in a word, and select a language, and viola! <---ooh look! I speak French too!

My other languages cover conversational pieces not skateboarding terms (and most translation sites will be the same)

My best suggestion is looking at other board sites that have more than one language and flick between the two languages looking for the words you want translated, most of the Canadian ones will be in French, and many US sites are also in Spanish

Dont know if german word sounds "cool" enough for boards, all of our cool things have english names

But I ll try:
path - there are many words which means "path" - Pfad, Weg, Strasse, Bahn, Laufbahn. I think "Himmelpfad" (celestial path) could be cool...
carver - Messer (knife) Tranchiermesser (a very thin, sharp knife)
transport - its the same word. Maybe you will use Düsenflieger for jet transport
movement - Bewegung
trip - Fahrt, Reise, Tour, Abstecher (short side trip)
cruiser - Geschwindigkeit (means speed), Tempomat (cruise control), Raketenkreuzer (rocket cruiser)
pumper - Im not sure, is this a fire brigade? That would be Feuerwehr
propel - Propeller, Triebwerk, Düsentriebwerk (jet engine)

If you need animals translated let me know!

I'm glad you made suggestions before I did, but what I believe is needed is the real skateboarder jargon.

What I'd suggest is signing up to use the (free) forums at http://dict.leo.org/ and posting the words you need in German on the forums there. Some skateboarder is bound to come up with the right answers. Some of them might actually already be in the online dictionary.

Let me try the Maori:

movement: whakakorikori
to move: kori
fly, flow, gliding movement:rere

The other words in the list don't sound right in Maori. However there is a maori language dictionary if you wish to have a look. But if you want whole sentences translated, let me know and I can get it done for you.
