I have been trying for over a week now, with pure formula, formula + mushy, mushy only, moistened food, dry food, anything. They don't even sniff the bowl. I put the food in a can lid, the plastic kind, low and small. I start with feeding them by hand, and go closer and closer to the bowl, still nothing. They barely take anything from my hand, except dry Kitten Iams moistened with formula. They are still sneezing and recovering from a respiratory infection, so I figured they might not be able to sniff.. but when they see the bottle, they go straight to it, sniffing like crazy ! I would keep them on the bottle longer, but they don't seem to be fully satisfied with it anymore. I don't want them to be hungry... They are bottle fed since 2nd week , mom abandoned. I have a 5 year old cat, I was whishing she could teach them, but she never seems to want to eat when they are around !

Any ideas ?
I also tried 4 different brands of food.... maybe there is THE one that I didn't try yet ?

Have you tried syringing the wet food into their mouths?

I couldn't get mine to go for the plate either.. they wanted the bottle.. but they were eating too much of the formula and not getting full.

So I started syringing some Hill's a/d into them and they started going crazy for it. I use a/d only because it is very syringable.. but I am sure you can find something cheaper that can be syringed up.

Then see if they will take it off the plate. Sometimes I have had to resort to not feeding them and just keep putting them by the plate. They are hungry and they will eat when they get hungry enough.

I start solid foods at 5 weeks but sometimes its 6-7 weeks before they really go for it on their own. Try feeding the canned foods on a paper plate rather then a bowl. Its messier, but the kittens will eat better.

And I usually start them on chicken canned foods or even some shredded boiled chicken breast. Then slowly add other flavors - lamb, turkey, then beef as its the strongest.

Thanks for the tips...
I tried a/d , but only one of them would suck a bit from my fingers, but no real ingesting of some. I'll try the syringe, let's see how they like it... and the paper plate too ! I know, it can get very messy ! I had those peewee pads as a liner but it wasn't enough.. now it's big towel on the floor !
