Hi All,

I want to start making my own cat food for my cats. I'll be using human meats, possibly even organic meats.

The thing I need to know before I start and move them away from the tinned food, is what kind of foods can they and can't they have.

Some websites on this subject say I can cook rice, oats and certain vegetables into the meat. Some say cook it, some say just blend it.

So the question is - do you cook the meat for the cats or do you give it to them raw? do you give them only the meat or does their diet require other things? what meats do I give, what meats do I stay away from?

Any suggestions and or recipes would be greatly appreciated.

My first(and sharky's too) suggestion is to:

find a vet that knows how to feed a raw diet!!

Trust me, I haven't got a vet like that....and if I had, my life would've been much simpler!

Find a vet to help you.... NO they arent for the most part food experts but they DO know HOW much of what is needed for health...

Raw diet basics

70-85% muscle meat
10-15% organ meat
10% bone
3-10% veggies ( if desired)

Cooked meat

you need the right amount of meat, organs, starch( grain or veggie) supplements

I feed my cats only raw food. I take for 100g meat

1g Kittywork - a vitamine concentrate for cats
0,5g Calciumcarbonat or egg shell
0,1g Taurin
5g vegetable as carrots or oatmeal
0,2g salt
and once in a week 2 drops of salmon oil and sometimes an egg (the yellow, don´t know the word
)
