I recently found a very tiny kitten, and while trying to keep her warm and cozy in the absence of a heating pad, I came up with an idea I wanted to share.

Easy Peasy Kitten Wearing.

Take a 12in square of soft, warm fabric, and at least 8 strong safety pins. Also, a soft cord or wide macramed necklace.

Fold fabric in half so opposite corner meet to give a triangle.

Now fold one corner of the triangle upwards to meet the opposite side.

The angle there should be about 90 degrees.

Now fold one of the top corners downwards.

Turn the piece over carefully and repeat with the other lower corner.

You should now have a flat-bottomed cone shape with an opening at the top.

Secure the folds with safety pins so the whole thing doesn't come undone. Leaving the top open. You should have two safety pins left.

Measure or estimate the length of cord or necklace to where the piece hangs about halfway down over your breastbone. (Or whatever feels comfortable for you, but kitty likes to hear your heartbeat.)

Secure the cord or necklace to the top two corners with the remaining safety pins.

Slip the whole contraption over your head, and place kitten inside.

My little one has been happily vibrating my chest with her purrs, and I am aware of exactly when she wakes, and it keeps her cozy and warm.

Just let me know if this was inappropriate, or anything I can do to improve the design.

Sounds a great idea! I kept my Dushka in a sling made of a large soft woollen scarf when she was a 3 week old kitten with pneumonia, and slipped it under my coat or jacket to keep it draught free. They love to be close to your body and your heart.
