I did bring this upon myself. I switched my cat to Nature's Variety Raw Food about 4ish months ago. No problems. I had to go away for a few days... so during last week I did a trial round of her Evo food a few days before we left. She did just fine. So I decided to leave her the dry Evo while we were away. Now we've come back (gone two full days) and she had diarrhea all over the one room of our basement. I fed her this morning without knowing... or I would have held back her food. I won't be feeding her again for 12-24 hours and wait and see how she does. But what else should I do?? I think I need to get her back on the Evo food and just forget about the raw (since we do go away at least once a month). Once the 12-24 hours is up... and so long as she's not having diarrhea anymore... what should I do? Should I go back to the Raw food for the time being. And then as long as everything is o'kay... then how can I begin to transition back to Evo moist and dry?

TRY a LESS COMPLEX raw... Natures variety is ONE of the MOST complex ....

www.barfdirect.com has lots of choices ... I suggest thinking about just meat organs and bones till the raw tummys settle

You can also try a treat of canned pumpkin (plain, not pumpkin pie mix) to help their stools firm up.

thanks guys! I knew of the pumpkin for dogs... didn't know if it was good for cats to or not. Now I know... thanks a bunch!

I fed her the raw again when I got back (as I said) and before I knew she had a problem. I didn't feed her the next meal (that evening) and then by morning she was asking for breakfast... so I gave her the regular N.V. raw again. She seems to have recovered. The kibble just didn't sit well obviously. So now I either stick with the raw (which I really want to do) and keep away visits short... or go back to Innova Evo.

Has she eaten Innova Evo before? My kitty had awful diarrhea with the Evo. The cottage cheese in the recipe did not sit well. She is extremely lactose intolerant, the poor little girl.

yeah... she was on the Evo before her switch to raw. But I think once you go raw your body knows what "real" food is... and just can't handle the other stuff as well anymore. She was on EVO for about a year before RAW. And before that she was on Innova pellets.

The body ( this is human) see some things as invaders after such a long absence

I've read that's it's fine to rotate your kitties food as long as you regularly do it. Right now my kitties get kibble for breakfast, canned for lunch and raw for dinner and they're all fine. I would, however like to switch them over to raw indefinitely at some point.

Isn't there someone that can feed your kitties while you're away? what about a pet sitter? that way you don't have to sacrifice the healthy diet...
