This was inspired by my friend Noofies.
You take them in your home, into your heart,
and give them love and lessons so they learn;
but while they stay, they soon become a part
of all you do: the joys and the concern.
They learn so very much from you each day:
They learn to love for you taught them to trust
You cure their ills and chase their fears away;
you make them pets for someone else; you must.
But when the time comes that they have to go
and join a family who will always care,
sometimes the love you freely did bestow
gets in the way and causes you despair.
So hereâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s a toast, a hug, a thank you, too,
for love, for care, for everything you do.
