Well Mitties has been on a diet for over a year. Even switched her to all wet food for a while, but ironically, it made her constipation problem WORSE. I thought I had her portions under control, but the vet told me to cut back even more. She said it will seem like I'm starving her but assured me I wouldn't be. I switched her to Orijen dry, and she gets 2 tablespoons of food in the morning, and 2 at night. Doesn't seem like a lot but she's thriving on it and pooping every day (HOORAY!!!!!). Plus, it seems to us like she has lost weight! She has a CLEAR waist now, still a very big girl but enough of a difference for both of us to notice.
She goes to the vet in a couple months to get her bumbum shaved (purely for cleanliness purposes!) and I'll see then if she's lost any weight. I sure hope so! It goes on so fast but takes FOREVER to come off, and it's not easy!!!!
