Hey:
My friends cat had kittens 8 1/2 weeks ago, and I really wanted one of them. Gladly, after much pressure, my mother finally gave in and let me get one of them. He is so cute, and I named him Tobias. Everything seemed alright for the first week, but this week he has started to have major problems with going to the washroom. He is a long-haired kitten, and when he goes to the washroom, his poop gets stuck to his fur on his rear legs and around his bum. Every time he goes to the washroom, I have to wipe him with toilet paper, or put him in the sink to clean his back half. Then I must find all the stains he's made on the floors and couches. He hates watrer and being wiped like I must do, and it's heartbeaking to hear him crying like that everytime, but also, I am getting upset with him, and it's really hard to keep a high attitude. I figured that when he goes to the washroom he doesn't spread his legs far enough, so it trails down his legs, but I don't know how to fix this fault, and I really must becasue everytime I do it, I feel like he'll start holding grudges against me, lol. Can anyone give me tidbits on how to prevent this from happening, or how to train him to go to the washroom properly, becasue cat's shouldn't be carrying around their feces all day and night, please help!!!!

My sisters dog has this problem. She cuts her fur short around that area.

Give his fur a chop around his bum and he should be okay. Keep an eye on it though because it grows back quite fast!!
