I like to watch the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. And I also love dogs, we have 2 - a Weimaraner & Choc. Lab, but I also love cats and wonder why don't have any shows on just about cats? There are plenty about dogs. Dog Whisperer, Shows about dog breeds, Dog shows and so on. Do they know that there are also cat shows? Do they know that there are different breeds of cats? Just take a look at this website and all the post that are made just for cats! Looks to me like people want to know things about thier cats such as behavior, medical, breeds, colors, all sorts of things. I think I might just email them and ask why. What do you think?

that's a good question! they really don't do much on cats, the most I see is on Animal Cops- you should e-mail and ask

The ones that are on the Animal Cops shows are often out of hoarder situations so they are usually ferals that are sick and are euthanized. Occasionally they have a kitten or cat that gets put up for adoption. I used to watch a show from an ER vet hospital in Colorado, I don't even know if it is still on. They had a lot of cats come through there both as an ER visit or a regular vet visit. I actually learned a lot of general information type things about cats from that show.

Ooh! That was Emergency Vets...I loved that show! You're right, I also learned a ton from that show. They don't film that show anymore, but they have another one right now out of the same facility, but it focuses more on the interns, but it is much like the other show.

Good idea to e-mail them! A programme about cat behaviour and body language/communication would be really interesting!

I have emailed them before asking for more shows about cats. Hopefully if more ask for shows with cats they will air more shows about cats.

Both of those channels have had "just cats" specials on. Just not very many. I've caught a cat show (big ones put on by CFA or TICA have been aired). And about 5-10 yrs ago one of them had a really nice Cats program that dealt with how they hunt, breeds, birth, etc.

I agree, there aren't too many about cats are there? I've seen one show that had about 15 minutes about domestic cats. It was on the Top 10 Count Down of Cats. Domestic cats were number one because comparitively they are the best hunters, and the most excessive hunters. Often hunting for no other reason than to case and kill something. I was happy to see that Animal Plannet named the domestic cat as the greatest of all cat species!!! Our little kitties out perform tigers!!!
