I have a question that I have been wondering about for a some time. A while ago I was clipping Samba's nails, and felt a bump on the underside of his front leg, about 2 inches from the tip of his foot. I was conserened until I noticed that there was one on his other frontleg too.
So I checked the other two and they have it too. I have checked a few of the kitties at the place I work and they all have them too
Anyone know what this is? I'm can't figure it out.

It is very strange, but they DO have an extra pad on the back of their front legs. I've never thought about why before

Also further up from that carpal pad cats have a little clump of short whiskers (thought to assist the cat when handling prey, as their near vision is poor), the place they emerge from feels like a tiny bump.

On many cats they're barely noticeable, but Radar sports a very fine and noticeable set on the back of each of his front legs! When I first spotted them I did a bit of reseach about leg whiskers

There's a bit of debate about whether they're 'true' whiskers or just reinforced hairs - either way they do seem to play a sensory role in dealing with caught prey, the disagreement about how exactly they are classified and what they should be called is purely an academic one. They're quite cute, aren't they?

I just had this issue with my kitten! Got all worried and when I typed in "bumps on cats front leg" all that popped up were cancer websites! Then I felt the other one and there were bumps there too! So glad I found this page pr I might have been a bundle of tears

i have a sealpoint siamese, and a rescue american shorthair. i first noticed the bumps on my siamese and got scared. they were about 2 inches past the last claw on both front paws, even had weird whiskery hairs growing out of them. I wasnt sure if i should be alarmed. But now i'm looking at my american shorthair male and he kind of has the same bumps. I never noticed this on my cats before. i was about to freak out that they were tumors, but now I see there are other people out there with the same thing. should i be concerned? is this a trip to the vet for both boys? or are these nodule type things normal?
