I feel so bad!! He was jumping up to my dresser just as I put my hand out and his eye and my finger met each other. Now he's mad at me and hissing his buns off. He's holding the eye closed but I pried it open to look at it. There's no blood but I don't know if I scratched his lens or not. I did call the vet and they said if it was no better by tomorrow, I'm to make an appointment to get it checked.

What can happen if I did scratch his lens? She said something about the cornea ulcer?

You didn't scratch his lens, that's in the interior of the eye behind the pupil, but you may have scratched his cornea. Fortunately, though, the cornea is the fastest healing tissue in the body. I have had a scratched cornea before, and it heals in a day. What your vet needs to do is to assure that any possible infection doesn't set in. Some eyedrops will take care of that if he/she thinks it's necessary. A corneal abrasion or scratch can be seen by putting fluorescent dye (harmless) in the eye and shining a Woods light on it. (that's a blacklight). The scratch will take up the dye and glow. The test is actually pretty cool to watch! And it won't hurt him at all.

Don't worry, I am sure if will be fine. It hurts to have anything happen to your eye, poor kid, but if you didn't see any obvious issues, a corneal scratch is not a big deal as long as a vet's watching over.

Thank you so much! He's still mad at me and I, apperently, don't grovel well. lol He is holding it open a little at a time but at least it's sort of open instead of closed tight. I take that as a good sign?

I don't think it's either good or bad, but if he's still holding his eye partially closed today or showing any signs of any discomfort, he does need to see a doctor.

Keep us posted.

Well, I got up this morning and his eye is open. He acts like nothing happend to it. I can look across the eye itself and don't see anything. I figure I wouldn't anyway. So, he's acting just fine and I'll still kepp an eye on his eye.

Thanks a ton for the help. The boy had me worried.
