We just adopted a stray kitten. The vet says he's about 6 weeks old. He's just the tiniest thing! Very friendly, hand tame. What do I need to know to take care of him correctly? The vet didn't really tell me much.

(We have 2 other cats, but the kitten is separated from them right now.)

Just keep him in a small area of the house, or a bathroom, laundry room, bedroom or crate. He is too small for full run of your entire home. Feed him a high quality kitten food, at bare minimum Purina kitten chow, but a higher quality food is best. None of the cheapo off brands from the grocery store. Possibly offer some cat milk or wet canned food, watered down if need be. Keep showing him the litterbox before and after eating. He will learn it fast though. Get him lots of toys and in 2 more weeks or so, start him on his kitten shots. At 8 weeks to 4 months he should be neutered before bad male cat habits start.

Good luck! And have fun!
