Old Wives Tales & Cats

I was just reading LDA's post and was curious to find out what other old wives tales are out there in regards to cats and are not true (and even outrageous ).

I remember one I've heard in the last year is that schizophrenia is developed after owning cats.

That's called crazy cat lady syndrome

what about cats sucking the breath out of babies

I've heard that cats keep ghosts and spirits away.

That one always made me laugh

I must lead a very sheltered life because I haven't heard any such rumours about cats.

How about that cats will lay on top of children's faces and suffocate them in their sleep? Or does that also go along with "sucking the breath out of babies?
