I haven't bought any chocolate for my SS yet for that very reason!

But, Roxie and I are reasonable. We will forgive you as long as you send us extra now for your foul up!!

In my defense... The chocolate would have gone bad by Christmas. I couldn't very well let that happen.
So for the sake of chocolate everywhere I ate it!

Yep - why I get my SS chocolate closer to shipping time. And also get me some. Yes, the chocolate must be fresh when shipped.

Here... or There... Hmmm
Here is a link to USPS Customs - restrictions and prohibitions for sending international shipments and mailings.

Here is a link Directly to Canada's Restrictions

Oleomargarine and other butter substitutes, including altered or renovated butter.
Perishable infectious biological substances.
Perishable noninfectious biological substances.
Plumage and skins of wild birds.

Used or secondhand hives or bee supplies.

Precious stones, set or not set; all items used as dress ornaments and coming under the term “jewelry” including articles of gold or other precious metal for personal use such as cigarette holders, cases, powder cases, card cases, opera glasses, fountain pens, watches, etc., are permitted in insured parcels provided the articles have value not over $5 U.S. A parcel containing a number of such articles valued at $5 or less may be insured for the total value of the contents up to a maximum of $200.

Did not say anything about plant material or catnip. I would just be sure to MARK IT ON THE CUSTOMS FORM CLEARLY!! Put CATNIP CAT TOY! or whatnot. Don't suprise them and make them wonder!

I did check the canadian postal service online and it did say plant material, but I'm assuming that is live plants. I was going to put exactly that - Catnip cat toy!
I think it will be ok. I'm so excited and will check out the links you posted. I have gotten some more good ideas over the past few days.

I'm having way too much fun with this SS stuff.

I sent to France last year, and I wanted to send a book I particularly liked. The regulations I believe said that you couldn't send any books in another language that were available in French.
Weird!

I sent the book anyway, LOL!

When you are sending overseas or out of your country, it's harder to do that, but you can sign it secret santa and put your address, but... it's less annonomous.

So if it would have gone bad by Christmas, how could it have been for your SS?
What kind of chocolate was it? We want details!

No, it's not just for paid members. Signups ended on September 14th though.
