I went up to the local Waldenbooks Store to purchase a book I saw there a couple of weeks ago but didn't have the spare cash for. Somebody else beat me to it so I picked up this rather interesting looking book instead:

The Republic of Pirates by Colin Woodard. It's a 2007 book and tells of the Caribbean Pirates, their "golden age" and how they were brought down. Has anyone read this one yet?

The book that I really wanted was Caesar: The Life of a Colossus by Adrian Goldsworthy. This one is about the life of Gaius Julius Caesar. I'll just order it online.

The Pirates one sounds so cool! Thanks for the tip!

You're welcome.

I'm about twenty pages into the book and it's already looking to be a very good read.

liked it was It was informative and entertaining.
i have not picked up a book on piracy since i was a kid, It does not go into a great depth on some subects. So for me it was good. Someone what already had a ton of imforation would find it light reading i would think

It sounds good, I may pick it up.

The Republic of Pirates is a turning out to be a very good book. For a history book it flows very well and isn't "dry". I'm really enjoying it.
