Anyone enjoy bowling or on a league?

This is my 2nd "season" on a league. Rob's been bowling for the last 11 years or so and is holding an average of 180 when we started tonight (although, he bowled a 224, 236, and 254 tonight! He's gonna have NO handicap, that's for sure). I've got a crappy average of 96, down from a 107 last season. We bowl every Friday, basically a drinking league though so everyone jokes we're there to drink beer, THEN bowl
This year we are on a team with his parents, last year we were with a team called "D--n Yankees" - we lost by 1/2 a game at the end of the season!!

I think it's just a bunch of fun and wondered if anyone else participates in a league or just enjoys bowling every now and again

Over the river and through the woods...
Oh, you are doing better than me! I was talked into bowling 4 yrs ago, and I had never bowled in my life. My starting average was 64! The first season, I was just happy that I knocked anything down! I was the gutterball queen.
I now have my average up to 112. Still not anything to brag about, but my team (DH, MIL, a co-worker and her husband) are just there to have fun, so it's fun.

It's funny, I don't start getting anything until I've had a least 3 beers (I have to be there right after work, so I don't get a chance to drink before
....after 6, I can get a strike! Go figure!

Our team is the Wascally Wabbits. Our last name is Hare so it seemed appropriate (and yes, we had a few beers in us when we came up with the name!)

I used to love to go bowling. I've never been in a league though and have only done 5 pin bowling because I find the balls for 10 pin to be way too big and heavy for me to pick up, never mind get them rolling down an alley
I am not very good but have been known to get the odd lucky strike.

I started off all three games last night with gutterballs
I guess someone had to clean them out! We also have to be to the alley right after work - I actually leave earlier that day to make it there by 7pm. We buy a pitcher to last us the three games, and his parents buy a bucket of 6 bottles (I'd be three sheets to the wind by then if I drank all 6!) Sometimes I "bowl for girly drinks", basically "betting" that I will get x amount of pins and if I do, Rob has to get me a girly drink
I have an 11 lb ball, but when I get irritated that I'm not bowling well, I attempt to roll Rob's 16lb-er down the lane. That's always a sight
I cant bring my arm back because I'd end up throwing it backwards!!

He won 2 of the 3 poker games last night, so we walked away with a profit
We spent $3/each on poker and $6.50 for the pitcher, but came away $30 richer than we started out!
