Our kittens are seven weeks old now, so it'll be a few more weeks before they leave their mom, Lily.

The thing is, Lily is *REALLY* attatched to those kittens, it scares me to think of what happens when they're taken away.

I'm not sure yet if we can keep any, although I really want to, but financially we might not be able to.

My question is, will Lily freak out when her babies are gone??
Is there anything I can do???

Yes, mother cats are like mother humans but possibly more so, as cats are more sensitive in all ways than most humans I've encountered, and they do bond deeply and feel deeply. I don't really have suggestions on the issue, as all cats who come into my life are speutered a/o -- and I do hope your mama cat will follow in their footsteps, as all of us who truly love cats do not want to contribute to the millions of cats and kittens losing their lives annually in domestic "shelters" alone! -- but hope that all of the kittens are placed in good, loving, responsible homes!

Had you been following any of my prior posts, you would see that I took in a pregnant stray and have planned since day 1 to spay her as soon as the kittens are weened.

And you don't have to "hope" that they're placed in responsible homes, I also have that covered.

Cats aren't like humans, they don't expect to have a lifelong relationship with their offspring. Yes she will be upset and cry for them for a day or two but she will quickly get over it, in nature kittens do leave their mum, and the maternal relationship she has with them doesn't continue throughout their lives - in nature, she would be getting ready to have another litter as soon as they'd left her (which of course you should prevent by spaying her).

It isn't really a part of nature's plan for fast-breeding creatures like cats to form lasting bonds with their offspring beyond the point where they can look after themselves, she will be upset at first but it won't last. Have her spayed so she doesn't have to go through it again

I would think if they all left around the same time, she might be upset, but if you adopt out 1-2 one week and 1-2 the next, then she should be ok

In a few more weeks she will start ignoring them more.

That's exactly what I was going to say. When Elsa had her 8 kittens, we adopted out 4 of them a few days apart, then the last three a couple weeks later a couple days apart. We did keep one, and she was pretty chummy with him, but he died after his 5 month birthday. She never really pined for any of them.
