My Mom stopped by before I got up today (which scared the toots out of me when I woke up and heard someone in my house!) to drop off a big thing of balloons for me. It's a big 2 and a 5 with some regular latex balloon added in.

Mooch and Noodles are both terrified of them!
Mooch hid behind one of the couches for like 3 hours and I had to use the laser pointer to get Noodles out from under my bed, and then she hid in the bathroom!

They've never been scared of balloons before. But I guess I've never had such big ones. Plus the ceiling fan keeps making them move back and forth a bit. I guess I'm gonna have to keep them in my bedroom.
My poor babies!!!

If they have been around balloons before and have never been afraid, maybe they are afraid of the numbers 2 and 5

Happy Birthday to You!

Aww, be brave little ones!

I think most cats are suspicious of balloons 'coz they know those things make a loud popping noise and it hurts their ears.

Well I had to switch rooms that the baloons were in so DH could go to bed. They still don't like em at all!
Maybe they think the big numbers are alive or something from the way they sway. Silly girls!

Cats are funny with balloons. My rexes loved them; Spooky would figure out how to get a hold of the string and he'd carry the balloon around the house

What I did was blow up balloons and put them on the floor for the kittens to play with. Some were scared at first, but most started batting them around after awhile.

I remember one of them got a hold of the end and tried to run with it; was hilarous - the balloon covered his face so he stopped and started going in a circle, which worked to "see" but as soon as he started forward the balloon got in his way again. If I had a cam recorder at the time I know it would have won the $10,000 prize on America's Funniest Videos
