i am about to leave my cats in a cat hotel for 5 days.
at the hotel there will be doctors but the cats are kept in cages.
Both uno and pillo (both 4 yrs, no ilness)are VERY sensitive to strangers as they dont come by often, they meow and hide and squirm.
Both of them have never been kept in a new environment more than 2h and i am afraid that they will be put under alot of stress.
i have heard that nervous cats will not eat, drink or pee. although there are doctors, i am afraid that uno will not pee in which case there is nothing doctors can do!

HOW LIKELY IS THIS? HOW DANGEROUS?
SHOULD I KEEP THEM AT HOME ISTEAD? (which is potentially just as dangerous)

Many thanks for all your answers

A new enviroment will be stressful for any pet. There are a couple of things I would suggest if keeping them in the pet hospital is your only option. Make sure you send along articles that have the smell of home on them (blankets, toys) also you could buy a feliway spray at your local pet store. Here in Canada they sell for about $30-40 (but very worth it) you just spray it on a blanket for example and send it with them. It has great results in keeping kitties calm.

What is the reason that they are having to go to the cat hosptial? Is there anyone around you that could care for them?.

Well, I am a cat sitter and I feel cats do much better at home. They are more relaxed. Changes in environment can stress a cat out. When they a re home they may miss you but at least most things are the same.

Im sure the people who take care of the cats at the boarding place monitor the cats. Some cats do well in cages too.

Mine do not and seeing cats boarded has made my choice to become a cat sitter. My clients return telling me that their cat is happy and relaxed and content.

Check into it

I agree, nowadays you may be able to find a catsitter nearby to where you live, who will come to your house daily and look in on your kitties. I do this with mine and it is far less stressful for them.

If you board them, you might ask about using your same litter and bringing all their stuff from home so they are most comfortable.

If you have a friend who knows your cats well and will not be going away with you, maybe they could look in on your cats at the boarding facility and talk to them or pet them, if the facility allows it.

I would look for a home sitter though and get references. Call your local animal hospital or shelter and ask around if they know cat sitters. Most shelter staff use home sitters and may be able to give you some names.

HI guys! thanks for the replies : )

yes i am considering getting a friend to sit my cats, but she wont be able to watch over them 24/7.
i will be gone for 5 days and she will only be able to visit for two. ***is this dangerous??****

while im gone, im afraid that uno might bully pillo (theyve been together for 4yrs, no blood, just chasing her around)
**im aafraid that this bullyingwill become more serious when i leave POSSIBLE???***
would it be ok if i seperate them in a room, and then get my friend to switch them over to the hall???
Hiring a proffesional cat sitter is not an option because i live in a place where there is alot of scam and theft,, so i have to be very cautious about letting strangers into my house.

BUT thanks Guys!!
please answer my questions if you can
