Here's one thing I've noticed with Nikita. Whenever I get home from work she's at the door to greet me and she's very cuddly and purry then.

Usually the base of her tail will fluff out, not the entire tail, just the base. I've not really seen that or noticed in other cats but then again I've not lived longterm with other cats before.

Does this happen often in cats? or is it just a quirk that Nikita has? It's rather cute really.

I've never seen just the base of a tail fluffed, but Nikita is obviously glad to see you, and her fluffing may be a variation of the "tail shiver" used by a lot of cats to express deep emotion such as pleasure (and not to be confused with the "tail shiver" used when cats spray-mark territory!) Yes, it does sound very cute -- love to see a pic if you can ever get one!

Yeah she's pleased and excited to see you, both mine do that when I get home from work and give them cuddles
