Hey guys! I just got home for the first time. He is still doing great and is supposed to be moved out of ICU tomorrow. As Alycia said they took the entire lung, they also ended up taking some small pieces of his ribs that the cancer had grown onto. The doc didn't act like that was a huge deal though. They've had him up in a chair twice today, and say that he's doing great. He's been bugging the nurses for a pepsi (which he can't have yet) and acting like himself, making jokes and carrying on.

I'm going to try to get some sleep tonight and I'm headed back over there first thing in the morning. Thank you all so much for your prayers and vibes, it really does mean SO much to me.

Alycia, thanks for updating everyone, and for being there for me. Hopefully I'll get to slow down soon and we can talk.
Love ya girl.

That's great news! It's remarkable for him to have his spirits back so quickly after such major surgery. He must be quite a guy!

That is so great...A good sense of humor goes a long way
I know my Dad is known for being the jokester in the Chemo room
Too bad they couldn't be in the same place together maybe they would crack each other up
Continued prayers for your Grandpa

I wish they could be together too, it would probably do them both some good.
How is your dad? Well I hope.

Thank you all again for the prayers and vibes, I told him the "crazy cat ladies" were praying for him and that gave him a chuckle.

We thought he was going to get a room today, but his pain medicine is making him sick to his stomach so he was sick until about noon. They wanted to wait to see if he was sick tonight before moving so hopefully we'll get out of the ICU tomorrow. Other than being sick this morning, and having hiccups almost all day he's still doing pretty well. He's frustrated about still being in the ICU, but doing ok.

He hasn't been on pain meds since noon, since they were making him sick and he hasn't had a whole lot of pain so I guess he's doing as well as could be expected.

Thanks again for all of your prayers, you really have no idea how much it means to me.

Sounds like he's coming along well
He will feel better when he gets out of ICU
My Dad had his Petscan and Catscan and it showed the tumor shrunk 50% he was disappointed, but his Dr said that was better than he expected...so he had to go back on CHEMO for 2 months and then a cancer pill
Thanks for asking...Continued prayers for your Grandfather

Well, not so good news today. They had to put him on the respirator because his vitals were dropping. He's still awake and mouthing words to us, but his body needs help breathing to get enough oxygen right now. He's also got pneumonia in his only lung.
The docs think that they caught it early enough that it will be easily taken care of, but I hate seeing him on that machine. He was doing so well...his vitals are stable again, but he'll have to stay on the respirator until the pneumonia is gone, then they will begin weaning him off of it. So, we're still in the ICU for at least a few more days.
Not good, but I guess it could be worse. He's a fighter, God's going to see him through this.

Helen, I'm glad to hear that there is at least some progress with your Dad. I know its disappointing to have to continue the treatments, but some progress is better than none. Your dad seems to have high spirits and a great attitude, and I know God's looking after him too. I'm keeping him in my prayers along side my grandpa.
Let me know if you need anything sweetie.
