Hummingbird Festival 2007

There is going to be a hummingbird festival in Rockport, TX that is actually starting today! My mom and I are going to drive down tomorrow and stay a few nights at this really nice resort!
I'll be sure to post some pictures while we are down there so all of you hummingbird fans can see.

This is where we are staying. www.pelicanbayresort.com. If you look under amenities you will see why it's so costly! I figured once wouldn't hurt and my mom needs to get out and relax. It's really neat because they are literally on the ocean.
They are also having tons of vendors, native plants and you can take bus tours to people's homes and see hundreds of hummers!

I put up a hummingbird feeder for the first time this year and...nothing.

Maybe we don't have hummingbirds in Chicago?

If you just put one up, it will take time for them to find it. I remember when I put my first one up. It took MONTHS before I even saw one.

All spring and all summer...nothing!

I will go to this someday!!!!

clixpix: Mine did'nt show till august this year and I feed them every year! I don't know what the deal was

If you try again next year, put something big and red by it. Be it a plant or a red shirt hanging on a clothesline or something.
There might be a few still around you- if you want to give it a shot

Here in St. louis I still have at least 20 of them. I imagine they'll be leaving any day now though temps are supposed to drop to 45 soon at night. I'll be leaving the feeders up for my late travelers though

That sounds soooo fun! I saw a humming bird in my Grandpa's backyard last week while I was out taking pics of the flowers and stuff but I was too far away to get a pic!

We made it to Rockport finally! Our hotel is awesome! I will post some pictures soon!!

Oh how nice! Looks like just a lovely place to stay!

It is so hard to try and catch them while they are all flying around. I hope with time and a spotting scope, I will be able to take better ones, but this will have to do for now.

Huh. So that's what it looks like when hummingbirds actually use their feeders. Interesting.
