Hi everyone..
My 5 year old male cat, Wolfie, has been having problems urinating for a few days. He is frequently going back and forth to his litter box and not producing much urine. He is acting normally otherwise. He's eating fine and is still playful.
I took him to the vet on Friday and she said that his bladder wasn't full and it looked like we caught it in time. She prescribed Prednisone and liquid Amoxil for him and said to keep an eye on the litter box. She also switched his food to C/D Prescription Diet.
He seemed to be doing better on Friday evening and Saturday. Less frequent trips to the box and I've noticed more urine production.
This morning he's been going back and forth to his box quite often. (5-6 times in an hour). He doesn't appear to be urinating. He's still acting fine otherwise. He doesn't cry in pain, but he's been licking the urinary opening after coming out of the box.
I'm not sure if I should take him back to the vet tomorrow or just ride it out a little longer... I've read/heard that urinary infections in males can be fatal. Trying not to be too overprotective here, but I know you all know how rotten you feel when your cat is sick...
I'd welcome any comments/suggestions you have..
Thanks,
Angi
