We live outside of town on a gravel road, apparently a prime spot for people to abandon their animals. A mother cat and her two kittens showed up on our porch a few weeks ago. I live with my dad, who is disabled, and I'm 17. There's no way we can afford to keep these cats.

The kittens are about three months old and both males. There's a black one and an orange one. They haven't had any of their shots and they need to be neutered. The mother, a pretty calico, needs badly to be spayed. We're terrified she's going to get pregnant again with one of the many feral cats around here.

I called all of the animal shelters and organizations in the area and none can help us. They're all completely full with unimaginably long waiting lists. We've run ads in local papers and online and haven't had a single response. We've run out of options.

Dad says that if I can't find somewhere for them to go one week from now, they're all going to be put to sleep. I know it's better than dumping them off somewhere to die a painful death, but I can't stand it. They're so playful and love people so much. They would all make such great pets for someone and they deserve a home. I don't want their lives to be cut short, but I don't want them to get hit by a car or starve or get a disease or any of the other possible fates out there.

I need advice, I need somewhere for them to go. We found a shelter that would take them, but it's fifty miles away plus it's a kill shelter. We couldn't afford the gas to take them anywhere. Anyone have room in their homes and hearts for three wonderful cats? I'm open to any suggestions or advice as I'm out of ideas.

Thank you for your consideration.

Ask local vets if they know of a place that has low cost/ or free spay/neuter clinics, they may even know a non-kill place that will take the kittens. Being your 17 and your father is disabled and you want to help these cats that may work to your advantage.

By me there was a rescue I called and got 3 certificates to get cats/kittens fixed and vaccinated for free, and the certificates were free all I did was call and say I have cats I want to get fixed but I have a very low income. And you could say about your father if you find a place by you that does this.

If any neighbors like cats by you and you find a place that can get the cats fixed, mabye a neighbor could drive the cats to the vets to get fixed for you and bring them back when they are done.

Hope everything turns out ok.
