For this, you will need:
--about ten old socks, preferably cotton, preferably mid-calf length
--catnip
--needle and thread
Take all the old socks but one, and put them on your arm, one on top of the other. Then take the whole bundle off--you should now have a lot of socks, one inside the other, which should be a lot like a cylindrical stuffed toy.
Take the last sock and put some catnip in the toe. Start putting it onto the sock bundle, a little at a time, putting a pinch of catnip in betweeh your sock bundle and your last sock every inch or so.
Once you have the sock completely on, sew the end shut.
Store in a plastic Ziploc bag. When the outer sock gets destroyed, you can put catnip in between the next sock and the one under it.
You now have a catnip-smelling cat toy... which is big enough for a rambunctious kitten to bat and bunny-kick and chew on and roll around with.
Another option would be to fill one sock with cotton batting or rags, and put a second sock over it. That would require only one pair.... but I had a lot of old socks to use up.
I did this for Tiny, and he played with it for an hour straight. Currently, he's sacked out in catnip bliss... and hopefully unlikely to bother Baby Girl tonight, so I can sleep without having to wake up and tell him to "knock it off"!
