Oh my God Debby!

Poor Peaches and poor you to have seen her like that. Please do tell us about these things! We're here to share the bad as well as the good. And nothing that has to do with your baby's health is repulsive to me!

Do let us know how she's doing! I'll keep praying for her!

Debby,

i have been thinking of you these past few days, wondering
how you were, and if you were alright, or just very busy...

i am so sorry to hear about this horrible event, i am sorry
for you & for Peaches.

Let's pray she pulls through and comes home with you very soon.
I will be praying.

I am always here for you, any time of day or night.

My goodness, I hope she will come through okay. Did the vet give her a good prognosis? You are such a wonderful person for helping her.

Debby; This is the first I read of Peaches, I swear; I read this after what I had posted for most of the day today (May 11). I will pray for you and your sweet momma cat. I hope you got her to the vet intime. Is she a very young cat? Had she been pregnant before? I ask this because I had a female once that was very tiny and came to me pregnant. She had one kitten and then had problems and I took her to the vet where they discovered two still kittens in her womb. They removed the dead babies, but peritinitus had set in and she was a very sick cat for a long time, but she did survive! She was with me for several more years(spayed of course). Even the one kitten survived because I was fortunate enough to have a good friend whose cat had babies at the same time and she adopted the little one as her own. I say all this to give you hope and know that we are all thinking of you.

Thank you SO much for your concern, all of you!!!! And Chuck, forgive me for using your thread to tell my story, I didn't mean to take it over or anything...I just suddenly felt I was ready to tell it, and didn't want to start a thread. I hope that's okay.

I will try to answer your questions, the best I can...

I don't know if Peaches had any babies that survived....if she did, they would have starved to death when I took her to the vet....but I looked and looked for them, and didn't find any. I hope there werent any, as the thought of them starving is too horrible.

And yes, Peaches is rather young, about a year old exactly, and has never been pregnant before, and she is a very petite little thing. I will most definately have her spayed!!!

And I just stopped and checked on her today after work, and the vet said maybe by Monday she could come home!!! That will mean she has been there for a week and a half!!!

She looked a little better today!!!!! And the vet said she is eating good, because the first few days she hardly ate at all. He has been giving her antibiodics, and treating her eyes, as they had been looking really bad, and he said it was because of the dehydration.

She is so happy to see me every time!!!!!!

When I first brought her in, he told me later, that he really thought she wasn't going to make it. (glad he didn't tell me that then)
I guess the new vets assistant that had just started got a real good lesson that being a vet isnt very glamorous, because the night I took Peaches in, they had to bathe her...and the poor woman ran out of the room and said to the vet's wife...(who works there too) That she had never seen so many ticks and maggots floating around in water in her life... (Peaches had gotten lots of Ticks on her the 5 days she was wandering around and couldnt get home....because of the fever.) I mean the fever is why she couldnt get home....not why she had so many ticks.. I'm not very clear sometimes.

Anyway, the vet said she was running a high fever...because of the dehydration, and was out of her head. He even wondered for a bit if she might have rabies, that first night, because he said she acted so odd, and kept throwing herself at the bars of the cage, and shaking. ( poor thing)
But he now thinks it was because of the fever, her mind was not working right. Kind of temperarily crazy.

Anyway...they checked on her alot all the next day, and his wife said a few times she thought Peaches was dead, but then when she rattled the cage, Peaches would move a little.

She still looks pretty ragged, not at all like herself, but she is better anyway, and eating good.

He is not sure what caused all this, or why she got so sick, he said he also wondered if maybe she had also been attacked by a wild animal when she was wandering around lost.

I just can't wait to have her back home, and doing well again.

This has caused some friction between my husband and I, as he thinks I am nuts to spend so much money on her, and that I should have just had her put to sleep.

It is nice to come here and have other people understand why I could not do that.

Thanks for caring.

Debby:

What a heart wrenching story! I am so glad that Peaches is on her way back to health. You are very loving and brave. I can only imagine what you went through when you found her, but I am SOOOO glad that you did! I know when Squirt was lost I thought one day I had found him dead on the side of the road. I turned the car around and drove up expecting to find my poor baby dead. Luckily, it was only a loaf of rain-soaked Cuban bread (which can look a lot like a dead orange cat at 60 mph). I know Peaches will be home safely soon. And tell your husband......never mind.

Debby, I'm crying reading this. I feel so much for you and Peaches. Give her a kiss from Uncle Chuck the next time yo see her. And, no, I don't mind at all that you told your story in this thread.

My heart goes out to you. My parents thought I was nuts to spend $1,000 on Tiger and should have put him down, but THAT is crazy and something that will NEVER happen. If my baby is sick and can be saved, money and bills be damned. The kids come FIRST! So, I completely understand.

This is great news! I'm thrilled for Peaches, as well as for you. What an ordeal for the poor little girl! I'm so glad to know she's feeling better and will come home soon. I'm sorry, of course, to learn your husband has no room in his heart for Peaches. But thankfully you do! God bless you for saving her life.

Poor Peaches! What a lucky thing you found her. You are a truly wonderful person to do what you are doing - especially without the support of your spouse. I know how difficult that can be.

Simba and I wish you and Peaches all the very best for a complete recovery of this situation.

Give her a hug and kiss from us. Bless you.

I'm so happy Peaches is getting better! And I'll keep praying for little Merlin!

Try not to fight with your husband over this. If he doesn't understand than it's just no use trying to convince him...
