Let me first start by saying, "I dearly love my 3 little darlings." But, I am at my wits end. They have chewed up evey blind in the apt. Squirting them with water does no good. (The vet suggested this). I never do it in the face. Loud noises aren't working. They do not scare very easily. Clapping hands and hissing is not effective either. We rent and we've had to buy all new blinds to replace them. Someone please help me out. E-mails and IM's are fine with me. Also, how do I post a pic. I've tried everything I can think of and it's not working. Would love to share a pic of my kitties with you all. [email protected]

Sarah,

I'm assuming that you are talking about metal or vinyl mini blinds. If so, try putting lemon juice with a little water in a squirt bottle and then mist the blinds with the juice. Most cats hate citrus and will avoid the blinds because of the juice.

Or...buy some Bitter Apple (with dog supplies at WalMart)and spray the blinds with this. It tastes really nasty but is harmless. It won't take more than a bite or two for the cats to learn to stay far away from the blinds. (This works well for plants too.)

Do a search for posting pictures in The Lounge. People are always asking about that, so you will find suggestions there. (I have never tried, so I can't help with that!)

Good luck!

Oh, Fluffy used to do this when she was a kitten-- the blinds have actual little teeth marks from her doing that, and they are the metal ones!

Yes, vinyl mini blinds was what I meant. Sorry I wasn't more specific. Thank you for the citrus suggestion. I will give that a try. If that doesn't work, I'll get some of the Bitter Apple. Thanks so much. Take care.

Wow! You're cats must have some super duper teeth. Mine are vinyl blinds. There are teeth marks in every blind, and in some places the blinds are gone altogether. I get up every day and find bits of blinds on the floor and throughout the apt. They sure do love the blinds.
