Now that Harry has become a little more adventurous (I caught him up on top of the fence this morning) I decided it was DEFINITELY time for the collar. Previous attempts failed as I'm too soft to his cries of protest. I got the collar on reasonably tight I thought. By the time I came down from the shower Harry was chewing the collar which was now off him! I've no idea how the little brat did it.

What kind of collar are you using?

Leo went through 3 collars like this (minus the glitter). He was somehow getting them off, and then chewing the plastic clasp so it wasn't functional anymore! The little
!

I finally got smart and got him one like this with a metal "belt-like" fastener, and he has only taken it off once in about 6 months. When he did take it off, he wasn't able to destroy the clasp!

It also might take some time to get used to it; you might try gradually increasing the amount of time each day he's wearing the collar.
