I'm thinking you are really in pain today. Wjen we were in a similar type of accident yrs ago adrenaline seems to mask the pain overnight as we were really stiff the next day.

I would worry first about you recovering from your injuries before worring about the car and damages. I'm sure your insurance may increase during next renewal-perhaps changing your limits or deductibles my negate some of the increase.

Take care of yourself....

How's your back today, Nikki? Accidents happen, as I'm sure Colin can tell you - I imagine they're an everyday occurrence for him, which might explain his reaction.

Hope your injury turns out to be minor, and that your insurance adjuster gets everything straightened out ASAP.

Thankyou everyone for all of your kind replies. Sorry i didn't get online yesterday- my internet was down for a bit (it does that when it rains sometimes) so i had to wait until they got it fixed this afternoon. I wound up going to work yesterday- if i take any days off right now- i may loose my job so i didn't really have a choice. My sister Kimmy was a sweetheart though- she picked me up yesterday morning and took me to and from work so i wouldn't have to drive (i was such a nervous wreck, and i still am today
). She stayed with me the whole time and helped me clean all of the animals and lift the heavy stuff (food, cat litter....). My other little Sunday volunteer came yesterday too to help with the cat room -so i am sooo greatful i had such sweet helpers yesterday! That really took a lot off of me.

I went in to work today as well, and when my coworkers found out what happened they were soo sweet- they helped lift all of the stuff i needed help with and did a lot of things (cleaning bottom cages/etc) so i wouldn't have to bend over too much and hurt my back worse. Everyone has been really supportive and that makes me feel a lot better knowing how nice everyone is.

I got calls from the other person's insurance company today as well as from mine- both companies were very polite and kind when asking about what happened, so i definitely appreciated that. I am supposed to get a call tomorrow to set up a time for the adjuster to come out and look at my car- hopefully it will be on tomorrow, wed , or fri when i'm off. In the mean time though- Colin's been soo sweet and he's letting me drive his truck since he doesn't need it - he has his squad car for work and his motorcycles for everything else. Him being supportive really helps right now since i'm soo stressed. What stinks though is that everytime i go into the garage for anything- i look at my car and it makes me think about the accident all over again...it scares me soo much to think about it.
I'm still a nervous wreck too,...not as bad as i was sat. night- but i'm still really jumpy and just can't calm down too well. I think tonight i will try and take a nice bath and just read for a bit or play guitar - that could help.

I did find out from my insurance co. that my deductable will be $500, so that's definitely not good
At least though it's just that and nothing worse though right. It would have been worse if i didn't have full coverage and gap insurance- so i'm greatful. My insurance will also cover my medical bills up to $1000 - so tomorrow I am going to go to the minor medical center or to the hospital near my house and get checked out to make sure my back and neck are ok.

My back and neck were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sore yesterday and they're worse today
It's nothing like it was the time i broke my tailbone - nothing near that painfull thankfully- but it's definitely hurting and really uncomfortable- so i believe it'd be better to get checked out just to be on the safe side. I've had back/neck problems in the past so i know it's nothing to mess with. Hopefully it will be something simple like an anit-inflamatory is all i need and no physical therapy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

In the mean time- i'm just greatful that it was nothing wrose and i'm thankfull to be home with my furbabies where i'm safe. Uhh you guys have no clue how nervous i was yesterday and today. It's been raining off and on since Saturday- so that's only made me more nervous- especially today when i had to drive. Thankfully though i got home safe. Haha and NO way i'm venturing out tonight.

My mom is supposed to come by my house sometime this week with her digital camera to take pictures of my car. When she does, i'll post some pictures of the damage. I'm hoping it's not toooooo horribly expensive to repair. It looks like it's mostly cosmetic on the front now that i've got a chance to calm down and really look. The frame does have damage to it though- and i can't open the passenger side front door...and the bottom part under the front of the car is messed up badly. The grille is one crumpled mess too. Thankfully though- nothing wose is wrong with it.

I am so sorry that this happened. I heard that it was raining really hard about that time. i left work at 11:00 and it had let up. I was so nervous that I was going to get hit too. It has been so long since we have had rain, everyone has forgotten what it is like. That sucks. I hate that you had to go through that. You will probably need to see a Dr. soon though, cause unfortunately, you will probably be even more sore tomorrow. Hopefully, they will give you some pain meds. You need to take it easy for a few days. I wish I could give you some sort of hook-up at the hospital, but those are strings I can't pull. I hope you feel better soon. I am glad that you have insurance that will cover it. Don't stress about it though, there is really nothing you can do about it now. Stressing about the cost will just make you more tense. Try to relax and take it easy. Come see me for x-rays!
Thanks Samantha
I am going to go to the minor medical center tomorrow to get checked out (i think it's the one near there- i will pm you and see if you know exactly where it is!). If i need x-rays though- i will definitely come see you on friday, as st. francis bartlett is the closest place to my house as far as hospitals go. I appreciate the offer
I'm trying not to stress out too much- but it's just so hard - i'm still really nervous and jumpy and just can't calm down well at all- i've been this way since thrs night. I think it did me some good to go to work though and get my mind off of it today and yesterday for a bit. I know how much the deductable is - $500 and my ticket - $90 ....so essentially.....$600. So while that's definitely a set back...it's no where near as bad as it could have been -so i'm just going to figure out a budget tonight and try to figure out how much to pay/safe for it to be taken care of quickly so i'm not worrying over it constantly. Thanks for being soo sweet

I'm glad to see you posting, though I hoped you'd had an exam by now...please be sure to do so tomorrow, if you can't tonight.

As for the feelings when you see your car, I know others will have advice, but mine is that after my 1 "solo" bad accident (only my car involved), I tried to do a long distance drive too soon. I wish I'd taken a bit more time. I was okay with local, but that is probably because my long distance drive took me back to the out of town scene of my accident in the Catskill Mountains.

Just be extra careful for a bit, if you are like me, with time, it gets easier.

I am going to go to the minor medical center tomorrow or wed. (probably tomorrow) to get my back and neck checked out because they're still really sore/painfull. I don't want to do any damage by not having it checked.

I'm definitely trying to take it slow on the driving thing. This morning i left for work really early so i'd have a lot of time to go slow and careful as i'm not as comfortable driving his truck as i am my car. It was also very foggy this morning -so that made me nervous too
I was praying the whole time i was driving. I was soo worried too- i kept noticing all these idiots running stop signs/etc and it really upset me and made me nervous. (it's like when i TRIED to obey the law by observing the stop sign, driving with my lights on, and looking both ways to see if i was clear that night- i get in a wreck
) It definitely did me good to get back on the road (slowly
) and get back in the drivers seat as it forces me to get over my fears a bit. I was feeling much more comfortable driving by the time my lunch break rolled around- the fog had gone away and it was clear for a little bit outside so that put me at ease a bit. The ride home though- it was raining the whole time so it put me on the edge just a bit though. I'm definitely taking your advice though and just going slow/taking it easy and being cautious.

Nikki, I'm just catching this thread now. I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, and that you're back's hurting you. Since your insurance will cover it, definitely get yourself to a doctor before it gets too much worse.

I know everything seems really stressful and terrible now, but it will all work out. I've had a few accidents, and I can definitely say that things always ended up better than they looked at first. It was an accident, and it could have happened to anybody. In the words of the cop who was at my first accident, "That's why we call them accidents...if they were intentional we'd all them on-purposes."

You're welcome. I don't know that it makes it less stressful just now, but I hope it helps to know that it will get less stressful eventually.

That's cute!

I hate to say it, but if your frame is bent, they will probably total your car out. Are you sure it is bent? Someone hit me in the side once, and I couldn't open my passenger door. I was in high school, and picked up my friends and took them to school too. They had to crawl through the drivers seat!!
When I was finally able to get it fixed, my frame wasn't bent even though I couldn't open the door. Hopefully yours isn't really bent.

Well I hope you sleep with a pillow under your knees and roll up a bathtowel and stick it in your pillow as a neck roll. When I got rear ended several yrs ago I ended up with weeks of P.T. and to this day of I do something to aggravate my neck I start back with the P.T. excercises. Does your gym have a whirlpool tub????

I'm not sure to be honest. I know the underside is messed up quite a bit. The parts that look the worst are on the front where the "grille" is it's dented in very badly in the middle -but the car isn't crunched up if that makes sense -it's mostly cosmetic i think in the front. The frame is damaged on the passenger side- but i'm not sure if it's necessarly bent enough for it to be considered "totaled." The hood of the car doesn't close right eithor- it's lifted up in spots- so is the part under the windshield wipers- the plastic part on the sides -it's lifted up a bit. Thankfully -both headlights are good - they didn't get broken- i'm sooo happy about that! There is something damaged on the inside of the car - near the passenger side when you look under the hood one of the car parts looks almost shredded or frayed on the end (it sounds worse than it looks on that part- but i just hope it's nothing major in the way of repairs / money goes).

Fortunately though- the drivers side i can get in and out of fine. The passenger side door won't open at all- the glove box took me a few minutes to pry open when the wreck happened to get my papers out -i think part of the frame or cage of the car may be messed up underneath it where the hinges move or something- i have no idea! I'm the worst person with cars- i can change a tire and that's about it....so i really am not sure what all the proper terms are /etc. Hopefully when the adjuster comes out he/she will be able to tell me in more detail what is wrong/needs repair (and hopefully it won't cost a fortune). I'm going to snap a few pictures with my mom's camera when i get a chance to see her the next time. I believe the majority of the damage is just cosmetic- but i know there is also some real damage too- the underside has a good bit of damage- one piece of metal (no idea what it is) is sticking straight out.

I have a whirlpool bathtub- do you think that would be ok to lay in for a bit? I haven't yet because i wasn't sure if it would make it worse or not. I might give that a try tonight. I will try your pillow/bathtowel suggestion and see if it helps. I've been sleeping with a heating pad on my back at night- but i roll around soo much in my sleep i imagine i'm not on it long enough lol.

i think it may too. i think i'm going to go take a nice long bath in a little bit. it'll give me a good excuse to use up some of my Lush stuff
(that ALWAYS makes me happy lol)

Thankyou Helen
I'm planning to try and get into a minor medical center or my doctor's office tomorrow just for a quick visit to have my back and neck checked out (for pain/soreness) other than that though, i feel ok. i'm greatful- it could have been much worse. I'm sooooo glad i always drive with my seat belt on religiously.

i'm supposed to find out tomorrow when the adjustor can come by my house to see about my car...hopefully it will be tomorrow or wednesday. In the mean time i'm trying to figure out a little budget so that i can get the ticket and the deductable asap because i also have to worry about paying for all the wedding/ health insurance stuff too
It will all work out though- i'm just going to have to stay positive and stop being so nervous over it all.

I just read this! Sorry you got in a wreck. I got in a wreck wenseday 2 weeks ago. I kinda did the same thing. It was raining and someone stopped in front of me. They were scared to turn cause they couldnt see anything so I was in a hurry to get home to Ari. Looked to see if anything was coming in the other lane didnt see anything switched lanes and boom. Hit these idiots in a monte carlo that had been speeding. We both got a ticket and both have to go to court. But Im freaking out wondering how much my ticket is going to be! My car got trashed. Had to hammer up the part that is above the wheel because it was scrapping and made it undrivable. Whole front side of my car was trashed. Their car sucked mine up into their tire. They ended up with a tiny dent and a broken tire rod. Mine is screwed/
