I started my new job, and it's been going well for the most part. I haven't spent much time at my desk in the office though because it's been really busy. Well, on Friday I finally was working on a project at the office and I was thinking hard about something and inadvertently felt the underside of my desk. It was lumpy!!!
Whomever had that desk before me used the bottom side to deposit their "explorative findings" if you know what I mean.

I am sooo grossed out. I don't know how I can clean it without wanting to
. How can someone do that at an office?! YUCK!

that's gross but very well worded lol
people can be scrubbers sometimes
you could try to clean it using antibacterial stuff and a cloth but ...... that would involve being near the hidden ... erm .... treasures

My problem is it's not something that can be cleaned by wiping. I'll have to scrub! Ewwww!!!

Do you not have a janitorial service that cleans periodically? You could leave a note and ask them to scrape and scrub it for you.

I worked one summer as a janitor at my school district -- never again!!! We had to detail clean each and every pupil desk, and the worst ones? the HIGH SCHOOLERS!!!! those guys are sorely underpaid, IMO!

Get a length of adhesive-backed vinyl (like Contact paper) and just plaster right over the repulsive mess.

Paint scraper, and a bit of anti-bacterial cleaning solution should do it. Wear gloves and a dust mask.

That's what I was going to say. When I worked at a restaurant we had "clean-up meetings". Loads of fun, let me tell you. One time, I drew the "scrape the gum off of the bottom of the tables". Seriously. Why? Why do peolpe stick crap to the bottom of tables/desks? I can honestly say I have NEVER done that before.

Ewwww! That is so gross! I thought only little kids did things like that

Can`t you demand a different desk. I would. I wouldn`t want to accidentally touch their snot.

OOOH!
You should not be responsible for cleaning such an atrosity!

You should bring it up to your higher ups,
that whomever was at your desk previously had a side job as a Nose Miner
& filed their reserch on the underside of the desk
& this should not be your responsibility to clean and sanitize.
