My fluffy kitty, Emma has always has poopy-butt troubles, but after about 2 weeks (it could have been a bit more) on Wellness they completely disappeared. I've been able to grow out her long, fluffy pants and haven't been greeted with a faceful of poop in the mornings for over a month now. It's been lovely.

I still have quite a bit of EVO kibble left... and I used a small bowl of it to bribe her with a couple nights ago, figuring that even though she's been doing perfectly on the Wellness she has still has a lot less poopy butt issues n the EVO than any other food we've tried, it'd be okay.

Wrong.

Poor Em had a poopy butt this morning, and she was standing on my dad's chest, I told her to sit... and the little munchkin sat right on his face.

Needless to say we found out she had a nasty bottom, he washed his beard, and she got a bath.

I crossed my fingers that was it... but right after dinner my dad started complaining there was a smell.. I checked the litterbox, and sure enough, Emma had gone all over the place, including all over herself, so yet another bath for her.

Gakkkkk. Well now at least I have learned that when you find a good thing that works well for your kitty, STICK WITH IT. But for the next few days I bet I'll be living with the results of this... and my carpet will have to be scrubbed again.

Sorry to laugh but I know EXACTLY what you're going through. I had to resort to having my cat's "undercarriage" shaved to keep the "poopy butt" at bay while she was going through some intestinal problems last month.

Numerous baths, wipes, and sponge-ings with soapy water helped, but I'm glad this problem is over for now. Plus it doesn't help that she is too darn fat to clean herself up properly!

I too have had the wonderful feeling of being sat on with a poopy-butt cat. No fun!!!! And I am also a firm believer in IF IT WORKS, STICK WITH IT. I am NEVER going to switch foods again because right now, the Orijen seems to be taking care of her problems. Good luck! Hope the poopy butt doesn't come back. Yeck!

LOL I've always hand-scissored her anal area, back legs, and very base of tail. It's just now that she finally has her beautiful little pants grown in--I LOVE it! And she has lost enough weight not that she can allllllmossssttttt lick her butt, but she can get her pants just fine, so they're always pleasantly clean.

Overall I've found keeping the pants brushed and free of extra fur helps the most, as then if she does get it nasty I'm not wrestling with tangles/mats/etc from the poo. Also, the only really thing that helps her is a mini-bath... the poop just smears everywhere otherwise.

I checked out your thread, and thanks for the info about Orijen.
If ever for some reason Wellness is unattainable for me, I'll know what to try next and cross my fingers it works for Emma, too!

Mitties was on Wellness dry and wet for a while and I liked it, but she seems to do better on the grain free diet, and Orijen is grain-free. Hard to get (only available online in my area) but worth it. Not any more expensive than Wellness.

had to do this to Lily after seeing her tailtell (lol) signs.

I take her into the bathroom & shut the door.
she knows whats going on by then.

luckily it wasnt as bad as i thought so i could just trim her up & flush the hair & all.

she was so scared, had that wide eyed look
& was wiggling so much i cut my nuckle just a little.

she was soon free and ran out the door with Tinkie(my pug) on her tail.

Yeah Mitties knows when she's getting a bath too. She hears me filling up the tub and by then she already knows something is up. When the tub is ready, I go to fetch her and she has gone into hiding, but I know exactly where she is. I grab her up and head towards the bathroom, and she lets out this long, deep, slow, whine... so pathetic sounding and pitiful. But once she's in the water, she is fine. Doesn't like it, but doesn't struggle too much.

Then she spends the rest of the afternoon pouting and licking her fur to get the excess water off. Yeah, I'm so abusive to her.
