I am trying to figure out if my kittens will be long-haired. I was wondering if anyone has pics of their long-haired kittens when they were about 3 weeks old? I would like to do a comparison.

Here are my fluffballs:

Sorry, those are the best "up-to-date" pics I have, lol.

IMO the kitten will be shorthair - most true longhairs are alot "fluffier" then the little one in the pic.

But I had one barn cat that was shorthair looking as a kitten and she turned out to be semi-longhair. Another one I was sure he would have longer hair (in the same litter) but by the time he was 3 months old, it had changed to shorter hair - but kinda thicker then most.

Unless you know the parents, its a wait and see thing - I'd go with shorthair.

It's hard to tell from thos pics...
Here's Wickett at around 4-5 weeks...

If you can't tell yet, you shuold be able to soon. I think biggest difference is that most long hairs, even as kittens, have a second, shorter, undercoat where shorthairs don't usually.

Well, I don't see an undercoat, so they'll probably be shorthairs then. I thought so, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

With the two kittens I had that ended up being longhairs, their fur felt very different from the other kittens. It was very soft and silky, it felt like rabbit fur.

I have been trying to figure this out too. I have one, maybe two I am unsure of. When they were REALLY little, they both had fur that was very different. Almost kinky looking like brillo or something. Now, the fur looks a wee bit longer and the one has very silky smooth fur, while the others still have that fuzzy kitten fur. They are about 6 weeks now, so I guess we'll see.
