Hiya Guys, don't know if you'll remember me its been months since i posted on here

Anyway you wont believe whats happened. As you know i have 2 cats, Fudge and Pickle.Fudge,i took in from a woman with too many cats who told me she was spayed e.t.c, and she turned out not to be and gave birth to 4 kittens in feb.....which you all know already!
Well Fudge was spayed in may this year......except she wasn't as she is now expecting kittens any day
For some reason, which my vet can't explain, she was operated on but not spayed

I have never been so angry in my life and have put in a complaint against the surgery.I only realised a week ago that fudge was definitely starting to look like a skittle again, but thought i was imagining it!!! I took her to the vets on monday and she is definitely pregnant.......VERY pregnant. Is funny because Pickle(our boy) has been horrible to her lately too...swatting her and hissing(he's not daddy by the way....he has definitely had the chop!!) wondered what his problem was!

So she is digging around everywhere and looking in silly places to give birth(toy cupboard) and sleeping loads......obviously as i thought she was spayed she has been coming and going as she pleased,so for the last week she has been kept in and ive really noticed.
Have no idea what day we are on but she is huge and i can see the kittens moving around in there, have been able to all week so any ideas????

IMO this is a case for a malpractice suit against the vet/hospital. I'd contact a good lawyer for this! And I'd request additional money for spaying the mother and EVERY kitten she has too - plus money for food, shots, etc.

And change vets!

YES, YES and YES. Um, and a refund for the "spay" they already did.

Oh i have already registered with a new vet,i did that on tuesday.

My old vet said the only thing she thinks that could have gone wrong is that she was mistaken for another cat being spayed that same day.......but how can that be when fudge had been cut open and had a spay wound?

My new vet gave me the relevant info on making a complaint,at the actual time i just left my vet in shock, but since then i,ve just gotten very angry about it. I cant believe it.

I'm really worried about the stress on Fudge too,she is only small herself and had just built back up from her litter in feb and now this...........

I will be contacting my old vet and asking that they pay all my new costs as a result of this.

If you are feeling kittens, she should be in her last couple of weeks. They become really active before delivery, if my memory serves correct.

I'd still look into contacting a lawyer to get what you deserve - including extra for spaying/neutering and shots for all the kittens you will have to deal with!

When the new vet finally spays her make sure they shave her belly and do their best to get a photo of any scar line that can be shown, so you have something as evidence. If you happened to take photos of her with her ecollar and shaved belly when she got home (as many of us silly cat parents seem to do *currently guilty....little meezer with conehead sitting beside me now is secretly rolling her blue eyes*) dig those up as well.

This is really something else!!

And, yes medical care for all the KITTENS as well....totally THEIR Fault this happened.

Thanks,i'm sure we will do.

Have been back in touch with the vet that didnt do fudge's spay, and they are going to cover all my costs for fudge and kittens. At first they tried to tell me they would take care of all vet procedures, until i reminded them i had a new vet and THEY would be taking care of fudge and kittens.

On another note......this might make you chuckle
while talking to my hubby,i was saying how worried i was about not being absolutely sure when fudge is due.......and he said "well i put the last heat she had on the calendar"......so i said "what do you mean.....she hasnt been in heat since her 'spay' "(as far as i was aware!!) "oh yes he said......when you went away in july she came into heat and made that much noise that i put her out for the night".................."i didnt think it would matter since she'd been spayed!"
I explained to him that cats dont go into heat when they have been spayed and that should have told him something was wrong
" well how was i supposed to know....they're your cats" he said!!!!

Anyway.......from the day ringed on the calendar i think she may be on day 65 on friday.

Ooohhh I think that mean newborn kitten pictures within a few days!!!!

Glad the old vet is willing to reimberse for costs on fudge and the new kittens. Are they going to refund the original 'spay' then? (You've probably written that and knowing me I missed it.)

My ex didn't have a clue about Ziggy either... is it just men, or just people that don't visit TCS?

Am glad things worked out to cover the re-spay and all the kittens - that's what was really wanted in the first place and lucky you didn't need a lawyer to get them to do it.

I'm sure they (the old vet) will be a heck of lot more careful in the future!

This is a good lesson in hanging onto ALL your vet records and receipts. That is just unreal. Good luck with the new kittens

I know exclaty how you feel, the same thing has happend to me. fluffy had kittens in may, but she was spayed in december last year at 7 months old had the scar when she came home etc.. i got a phone call about it from the vet saying there was a mix up, that fluffy did go under and was cut but an emergancy came in to the vets and she had to be closed up without having the sugrey done, but in her notes it said she had been done, she was confused with another cat who was spayed ( there owners was told theres hadnt been spayed because of what had happend) so when they went back for the spay it turned out she was already done, which is when they got in contact with me. fluffy was already 3 weeks pregnant but got a uri so i couldnt spay abort at the time, then she got to far along. i changed vets and did get rembersed the money and they covered the costs of her new spay.

i hope everything goes well for your girl.

Thanks Tasha, I remember Fluffy expecting but not the circumstances! I just cant believe what's happened.Fudge only had kittens in feb......you try to be responsible and have them spayed, and some things are just out of your control!

Anyway i *think* she's due tomorrow...ish.Have been panicking a bit with being at work all week, but now am off until tue so hopefully they'll be here by then!

She looks and feels much bigger than last time.....is it fact or fiction that they tend to have more kittens with each litter?
