I have a kitten that I am fostering (4 months old) and a full grown foster cat (3 years, who I've been trying to find a home for for two years now. He's a deaf Maine Coon Mix and needs to go to an only-cat home).
I'm moving soon (a few weeks) and although I've been trying my best to find them homes before now, I have had no success.
The closest shelter does not take out-of-county surrenders and the farther one is full due to the time of year.
I cannot take them with me, because although the place I am moving to allows pets, the three cats I am taking will cost me a few hundred dollars extra and I cannot realistically afford more than that.
I live in a wee town in rural SE Kentucky, and although I know there are some great pet owners out here, I have heard stories from enough people here to be extremely reluctant in giving either one of them to anyone here. I'm truly at a loss at what to do.
I've contacted Maine Coon Rescue ( among others) and have them courtesy listed, but as moving day draws closer, I'm not sure what I can do.
I refuse to just drive off and leave them behind, and I don't know if lying to the closest shelter would work (and I'd feel awkward doing it).
