About a week ago, Chichi was diagnosed with a UTI. She has had 2 shots of antibiotics that each lasted for 5 days. Well, yesterday was the 5th day on the last shot. This morning she was having potty issues again, which more than likely means it is back(never left?) I just made an appt for tommorow morning, but in the meantime can I please get some get well vibes for her? I would really appreciate it. I could use some quit crying and pull yourself together vibes if anyone has any of those

Thank you

Tons & tons of for Chichi!!

I'd be crying, too. Did the vet run bloodwork to check her organ functions....make sure there is not an underlying cause for the UTI because of her age?

Thanks for the vibes

No- the original appt we had was an emergency sat one. They had to squeeze me in to see her. I had to wait in the lobby for seriously like an hour just to get her in. They took her temp & stuff like that, but no blood work. They felt her tummy and said her bladder felt hard/swollen? and gave her some meds.

This has me so upset becuase Chichi has always been so healthy. In all her years I would say I have had to take her to the vets only 3-4 times outside of her annual exams. She has never had any urinary problems in the past, theres been no diet change, no changes anywhere

I suggest that you have your vet run bloodwork. Not only because of her age, but the fact that this came back so fast, makes me wonder if there is an underlying condition....

Awwwww!!!
Im sorry Chichi is still having problems with a UTI.
Did your vet not try a medicine by mouth? Garfield was diagnosed with a "REALLY BAD" UTI about 2 months ago... he started going potty on all my rugs and doing poopy on the garage floor!!

I took him and they kept him overnight (mainly because he refused for a little more than 24 hours to give them a urine sample) and they finally gave him something to relax his bladder. Once they got their sample.... he was diagnosed with a really bad UTI and was given an oral medication. It worked fine and he is now back to using his litter box.

But one more thing I must note.... even after his medication was finished he was still not using his litter box so my 1st though was that the med. didnt help. Well after watching him I realized that he WOULD use the litter box as I would take the LID OFF to check if it needed cleaning.
So I decided to leave the lid off one day and BOOM!!! He hasnt used anything BUT THE LITTER BOX since then. He was just all of a sudden scared of the lid.... is my guess..... does ur litter box have a lid?!Here are your vibes...

Well........ the vet just called me- I'm getting ready to take her up there in a little while. He is going to give her another shot. I will request bloodwork
I guess we'll do that tommorow
I'm all confused now! I had the appt for tommorow-but he just called and said to bring her in-oh I am a mess!!!! All scatterbrained! Jeesh! I picked the wrong time to quit smoking!

Thanks for the vibes!

Yeah, at first we had pills. But after 3 days of her not taking them
we had to go the shot route. She knew when they were crushed up in her food. And after attempting to give her a whole one orally with someone else helping me to no avail- we gave up on any pills :-(

No- her box does'nt have a lid
I don't think she would go in one of those

Thank you all so much for your vibes and well wishes

We are back. Chichi got another shot of meds. I am to bring her back in 5 days for the second shot. Dr said that UTI are tough little stubborn things, and sometimes require additional meds to completly (sp!?) clear up. If it comes back after this, we will then move on to blood work etc...

Well, Chichi is munching on some num-nums now. She'll be sleeping shortly
wish I could say the same

I think I will go discover something to eat, seeing that it is going on 3 o'clock and I have'nt ate anything all day
