Is it possible to train your cat to poop outside when they are mainly indoor?

It's just Harry is allowed out in the back garden for a few hours every day when one of us is home (he never wanders further than this). While he will urinate in the back garden he always comes back indoors to poo in his litter tray. He's always been very well behaved when it comes to pooing but I would love to not have the smell of poo in the house! I don't want to discourage the use of the litter box and it will always be there for him, I would just like to encourage outside toilet habits!!

I'm aware that a good trick is putting the litter tray outside but I don't want to move the one he has. How about a second one in the garden?

I was gonna suggest just put a 2nd one outside - maybe put a piece or two of his poop in the outside one so he knows he can use it too

Up until I got Blossom all my cats were indoor/outdoor & mostly used the garden to toilet in in the day time. So the above suggestion is all I can think of.

You can get litter trays specifically for outside. Maybe he'd use one of those to poo outdoors.
