Hello everyone,
I have delved into the land of feral cats. Normally I feed and catch strays that are friendly and bring them to the humane society. But when Gus started hanging around it was evident that he didn't know people very well. I live in an apartment complex that has a large outdoor cat population and I think a lot of them are feral or semi feral. Gus is about 7-8 monthes old and I fed him for 3 weeks before I caught him. I couldn't haveaheart trap him because he wouldn't fall for it (too smart
so I ended up just scruffing him and putting him in a cat carrier. (which went remarkably smoothly until the door was shut behind him. He was neutered and vaccinated and tested FIV postive. Right now we are waiting on a western blot to come back to confirm the snap test but I am wondering if anyone has any experience introducing an FIV positive cat and if they have any recommendations. Gus is very social with me, he will let me pet him and rubs on my legs, but he is very very wary of anyone else. Initially we wanted to try to place him but he is so shy I am afraid it will be too stressful for him trying to adapt to a new home. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated! -Lindsey
