Hi,

I think my cat might have a bladder problem. I clean the litter everyday myself, usually I do not have a problem with the smell but 3 days ago my house started to smell bad, one of my cats had managed to pee a mini mountain that smells very strong of amonia, it actually burns my nose. Its been 3 days and I keep finding the same thing, could this mean that one of my cats have an infection. I'm not too sure which one it is. I have 2 boys (neutered 6 months ago) and 1 girl (spayed).

I cant find anything on the web, was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and have some advice for me??

Thank you

C

It could likely be a UTI. It is therefore painful to pee. And in males, if they block(which seems to be common), they could die within 24 hours. Sorry to freak you out there.
I honestly suggest taking all 3 in to get urine samples tested.

Have you been able to narrow down when the "mountain" occurs? You might camp out near the box with a good book and see if you can catch the "culprit" in the act so they can be checked out by a vet.

Hi,

Thank you for your replies. None of my cats exhibit UTI signs, this has been going on for 3 days and they all eat, play and sleep as usual. Apart from the very large and smelly urine piles in the litter, they are acting normal... Just wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone, when I take my kitties in for a check up I need to have someone translate to the vet so I would like a better idea of what to say to the vet...

Its been raining here for about a week now plus its very humid, is it possible that the litter takes too long and that's where the smell is coming from?

Thanks

C
