when my cat is begging for attention - if we pet his belly he will bite us. hard. anywhere else is fine. i think he doesn't like it but my son thinks he does since he doesn't run away. what do you think?

typically kitties are not big fans of being petted on their bellies. dogs, yes; kitties not so much.

just do the "everywhere else" petting and keep the kitty happy....

it is funny how he rolls on his back with paws in the air. it is like he is asking for beely pets.

I think most cats like to do this. The rolling over shows that he's comfortable around you (so much in fact that he'll put himself in the most vulnerable position he can think of!), but it's usually a "look, but don't touch!" thing. Sometimes, you can actually hear my cats' disgust - "Excuse me! You should feel privileged enough just to see my belly! What do you think I am? A DOG???"

My husband likes to say that it's a trick to entice us to touch so they can attack/play...hehehe. When our female cat gets tired of us petting her (she's usually lying on her belly), she'll shift so she's lying on her side and then start swatting our hand and getting all nippy on us.
