my new cat has a chronic herpes infection. she will get a runny eyes, stuffed up and runny nose, and a cough,
anytime she is under stress, or really, any time at all for no particular reason,
but stress can affect it
i put Lysine on her food, vet said that was a good thing to do and recommended a higher dose than what most ppl use (cant remember now what he said but basically she gets 1/4 teaspoon per day spread out in her meals, supposed to work better if its not given all at once)
well i was wondering if there is anything else i can do for her?
someone told me i need to keep wiping the stuff off her eyes or it can get infected,
she hates it when i do that, does that mean her eyes hurt or does she just not like it?
i was thinking about adding colostrum to her diet, does anyone know anything about that?
it seems to be the next "new" new thing for kitties, esp those with chronic conditions
but its expensive and i dont want to waste any money if its not going to help any
she has a good appetite even when her nose is stuffed up, so she is not sufferering that way from her colds
any suggestions welcome, esp from some one with experience with a herpes cat
i was on the yahoo group but they were not too helpful, it seems most of their cats have serious eye problems (ulcers and things) that my girl doesn't have (at least, not yet
)
