We have adopted a new kitten from the S.P.C.A. and she is a total ball of energy and play. wegot her as a foster family at 4-6 weeks old and she is now10-12 weeks. The problem is that we have an 8 yr old cat - Meko (indoor/outdoor) who has had the run of the house until now. She is not too happy about this little kitty consantly trying to play with and attack her, in fact all Meko does is growl and run away, spending 90% of her time outside now. We desperately need some advice on how to handle this or some links to the proper websites to deal with this.
Here is what we have done so far.
1 Tried playing with them together, playing some of Meko's favorite games to show that the kitten could be fun and not just a nuisance
2 Left them alone together to see if they could "work out" their differences
3 we are currently keeping them seperated as Meko seems so traumatized the even if she hears Purple(the kitty) meowing she starts to growl.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance

Did you do an "official" introduction process? Confine Purple in a room & slowly introduce her to Meko?

Honestly....my suggestion you might not like, but if you can afford/have space, I'd adopt another kitten. Purple will be in the nutso baby cat stage for many more months, it might be easier on Meko to not be the object of Purple's affection. Give Meko time.....if she has never lived with another kitty before or even if she has, she may only tolerate Purple at best. It took my Twitch over a year to stop chasing my Damita.

Have you tried Feliway diffusers?
