Cameron was the quarterback of the local high school team. His mother a school teacher. His first job was with me. You would never know he was a "jock"; he got along well with everyone and was quiet & shy; he worked hard, too, which is very rare for teens anymore IMO. He had a heart of gold. He graduated high school 2 years ago with a football scholarship to NC state. That year during the Christmas season, he complained of really bad headaches. After a doctor's visit, we learned he had a brain tumor, had emergency surgery, put on a ventilator and couldn't talk. He grew stronger and stronger as the months passed. I didn't think he'd ever make it to college, let alone work. Well, although not able to play football anymore, he did return to school. And work! I couldn't believe it--he worked all summer long for me and said that he wanted to stay on temporary part time so that he could come back and work on his breaks and during the holidays. He called me last week with his school schedule and said he wanted to work his fall break in October.
Today, a girl from work called me and said he had died in his sleep. I just can't believe it. And as I am writing this, my BF said I shouldn't post this because "what do you say to that?" "Maybe its mostly women and they'll know what to say." I swear he upsets me sometimes--but I am posting b/c I can get a release by writing about it and I do feel like y'all care. (So he can kiss my butt, just in case he's still reading over my shoulder
)

What do we say to that? Thank you for sharing this wonderful person with us. Allow us to support you in your grief. Kick the BF in the backside.

Please accept my condolences. Cameron sounds like he was a special person to know and the world is a little more empty without him.

How sad!! But how wonderful for you to remember him this way! I'm sure there aren't many employers that would pay tribute to an employee the way you have. May knowing this young man be an inspiration to you and his fellow co-workers. Tell that BF he's lucky to have a compassionate partner!!

I'm sure he wanted as much of a normal life as possible... it's wonderful that you were able to give him a job he apparently enjoyed. And at least he had a peaceful passing. Thank you for sharing his story with us.

Oh gosh! It`s always hard to lose someone in our lives....and it seems the younger they are, and especially if it is a sudden death, that there is always that eliment of shock!
I`m sorry for all who knew and loved him.
