I posted earlier about my cats who cannot resist scratching off the thin material that covers the bottom of box springs (under the bed)- they had already done this to the beds in the room they were staying in and two other beds were in danger. I just went to target and bought some cheap fitted sheets and installed them so they cover the bottom of the box spring. So far I have had no problems. The sheets cost $10.00 each.

I had this same problem until my father brought some strong plastic film that he double and tripled and reapplied to the bottom of the bed. It has seemed to work for the time being.

Ive learned with my one kitty, the best thing to do is remove the fabric for him so he cant destroy it lol. His favourite thing was to slit a small hole in and hide up in there! oy.
